Winstar casino, after Oklahoma rally
We packed up the rigs again after Oklahoma City and headed for a tag along with the Cooks to Winstar Casino in Thackerville, OK. We stayed at the Casino RV Park, which is new and beautiful. We had 5 rigs here: Cooks, James Smiths, Jerry Smiths, Fishers and Laningas. Hessie Smith had arrived earlier and greeted us with a prepared dinner of beef stew hash, which we complemented with other foods. Jack and Susan Kelly surprised us by driving up from nearby Sulfur, OK to join us without their trailer and we really enjoyed catching up with them. The management at the Winstar RV Park was very helpful and offered us use of the Guest Pavilion for getting together even though we had only 5 rigs,(6 couples with the Kellys) instead of 10.
The rain stopped almost immediately when we arrived, but we had a very cool, cloudy few days. Many went directly to the casino to try their luck while others enjoyed the amenities at the park. It was a perfect “decelerating” place for those who had been on the road for a couple of weeks.
As usual, we ate lots of good food in the casino and at the park. The Pizza from Matador’s was especially good. Of course, the Senior Breakfasts on Wednesday and Thursday mornings are a real draw as they are free to seniors. If you haven’t been to Winstar lately, you haven’t been to Winstar!
The James Smiths and the Fishers and Laningas had to leave early in the week for other obligations, leaving the Jerry Smiths and Cooks to finish up the tag-along in good company. It was the perfect end to a perfect Oklahoma road trip. Thanks to Ida and Les for inviting us to join them!
