January 1, 2020. A new year and decade begins. The Traveling Supremes wish all of you the very best for the next time period.
We slept in this morning, then met for another fabulous meal. No one can cook better than the TS family. And no one can eat any better! So most of us were there for one last chance to raise our calorie count. Some left early (hope you’re feeling better Linda), some immediately after, and some are still here for a while. Regardless, we wish you all safe traveling and good health. Look forward to seeing you in Quartzite or Elephant Butte or..
The first day of our 2019/2020 NY Rally saw rigs coming from near and far. TS members gathered and told tall tales and in general shot the breeze and got reacquainted. James Hoover started off the meeting at the happy hour with greetings and announcements.
Dinner was served, a most excellent Texas dinner of pulled pork, baked beans, and potato salad , followed by cherry and peach cobbler. We all helped ourselves and thanked Hessie Smith for her most excellent dinner preparation. We campers do know how to eat!
This was followed by a spirited game of bingo, where winners scored big White Elephant prizes. In fact, one of the prizes was a white elephant. And roosters, earbuds, cutting boards, candle sticks, much much more. It quickly came to 8:30 when most people our age go to bed and the evening drew to a close. More to come…
A few days ago I spoke with Charlene at the Antique Capital RV Park and was very pleased to find out that we now have 15 rigs signed up for our New Year’s Gathering! She also informed me that all had purchased tickets for the dinner show on New Year’s eve. That’s good news and even more good news is that there are still openings for sites and tickets so don’t miss out on the fun. If you aren’t signed up, call soon before they’re all booked!
Hessie sent me a copy of the flyer advertising the dinner and performance on New Year’s eve. I have attached a picture of it. Looks like fun! If you have already reserved your site, keep an eye out for additional information in the coming weeks.
Also, don’t forget about the tag along to Canton trade days
after the Gathering if you are interested.
I wanted to give a little update on the New Year’s rally. We now have 14 rigs signed up! How exciting! That means that we have one more site designated to the Traveling Supremes. The rest of the park is getting pretty booked up too so if you think you might want to go please call soon. It is The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV park at 830-992-1237. Arrive December 28 and depart January 2. If need be, go ahead and get on the waiting list in case there are cancellations.
I will be sending out emails very soon to those who are signed up with more information.
Thank you so much for your interest in this gathering. Feel free to call or text me anytime.
We wish all members, their families, and guests a Happy Thanksgiving. One word of warning: before you tackle that turkey dinner, make sure you don’t exceed your RV’s weight capacity!
Also a reminder to make sure you are signed up for our NY rally. We will be having quite a lot of fun! You can see more here
Finally, the Laningas and the Cooks have made reservation at Port Aransas Port A RV Resort for January 3d through February 3d. This is not a rally or even a gathering, but if you show up maybe it will be! You can get the park info here . This is a high end park but monthly rates are reasonable.
All good things must come to an end, even our New Years Rally. We visited Goldwell Open Air museum, which was closed but still worth a visit. Then we went to Rhyolite Ghost Town, and lunch in Beatty and lunch at the KC Outpost. Some of us then went to Ash Meadows Refuge and then on to do a tour at the Opera House.
On the 11th the Hoovers went home, and the rest of the 14 of us went to lunch at the Furnace Creek Inn, followed by a tour of the magnificent historical hotel.
Sadly, we had to say goodbye and head for our respective homes (or next campsite). Thanks to all for attending, and especially to Ted and Susan Kercher for setting up an excellent New Years Rally! To see the full report, click here.
