Half way between Yellowstone NP and Glacier NP lies the town of Deer Lodge, pop. 3,100. We camped there, had some time, and found the Old Montana Prison. This was the first Montana prison, with a rather notorious history of greed, corruption and prisoner abuse (it was built primarily with convict labor). It now houses 5 museums, we visited two: the Prison Museum, and the Car Museum. It was well worth the time. One of the nicest car collections we’ve seen in a long time, and the Prison tour was chilling. We recommend a stopover here! Below are just a few pictures I took:
The Quartzsite tagalong has been moved from the “Proposed” rallies section to the 2018 Upcoming Rallies. Jim and Tina Hoover have worked hard on this, 8 coaches are signed up, it will be a great event! Be sure to sign up soon if you are interested; click here for more information.
Buena Vista update
Picture of Hoovers and Butauds having lunch in Breckenridge at “The Lost Cajun ” restaurant. Easy day trip from BV. Drive from Buena Vista takes you through the towns of Fairplay and Alma. On the way, you go over Hoosier Pass at about 10,500 feet. Lots of shops and restaurants in Breckenridge. Trip was well worth the time.
Tomorrow, Jim and Lou will be “scouting” other RV parks in the BV area. BV continues to impress with what it has to offer.
And more (edited)….
There was some misunderstanding in the original post here, about putting member names and emails on line. That is NOT going to happen. What we should have said is to find a way for members who want it to automatically be notified of any new posts. This is already in our system, just click the “Follow” button (left side, under the menus), enter your email, and you will get the latest updates. Your name will NOT be posted or otherwise used. Don’t add your email, you won’t get updates.
Hope this clears up confusion based on my interpretation of the original request.
For those that knows Bill Water, a past president of our TS club, he found out he has kidney cancer and a few spots on his lungs. Wife Geneva has not been in good health for awhile so they both need you prayers.
For some of you who may not have heard, Bobby Skinner has passed away and was buried in Bay City this week. Keep Nancy in your prayers too as she now has much to take care of in Blooming Grove. Hope everyone else is doing ok and hope to see some of you in Chama or at a future rally/gathering.
Ted and I have been in Sault Ste Marie with four other Traveling Supreme rigs since Saturday, July 15, 2017. We have had some great meals together including a delicious gumbo made by Ken Wellock and Marie Moreau! We’ve watched lots of ships go by on the lake every afternoon and have had lots of great conversations! We all depart on Saturday! This has been a great gathering!

Telling me I’ve taken enough of his time taking pictures!
The Buena Vista Tagalong has seen additional participants. Recently, in addition to the Butauds, we have Gene and Sarah Fisher, Jerry and Hessie Smith, and Jim and Tim Hoover stop by. A few of the many things to see and do in this area:
The Fishers, Smiths and Butauds attended a local theater production of “Madams of Central Colorado” on Saturday, July 8. This play recounts a bawdy side of BV history. It is based on factual events from the mid to late 1800s and early 1900s. The production is performed in the old Chaffee County Courthouse, which also serves as a museum. Performances are done 5 or 6 times each summer.
A nice drive took us to the Continental Divide. Water that drains on the east side flows to the Atlantic, and on the west side to the Pacific. Pizza in Leadville, CO (above 10,000ft. elevation), and whitewater rafting. So much to do!
Traveling Supreme members meet up at the FMCA National Rally in Indianapolis, IN. Pictured are Deanne & David Phillips, Dave Evans, and Les & Ida Cook. Dave Evans says hello to all & that he looks forward to seeing everyone at the Ohio & Indiana Gatherings next summer!
Judy and Irby Gamble have done a lot of work to set up a most excellent gathering in Millersburg (OH) for July 2018. This is at a very popular park and it pays to make reservations early. Please check the 2018 Proposed Rallies page Click here for more info.
