May 12 Thursday—Arrive at The Retreat RV Resort, 7516 Interstate 27. Meet and Greet at 5:00 in meeting room. Bring snacks to share and drinks and utensils. Brochures will be available, as well as some information about the town and famous musicians from the area. Pay $3 per person for tomorrow’s trolley.
May 13 Friday— Leave at 9:30 a.m. for National Ranching and Western Heritage Museum, 3121-4th St., tour at 10:00 a.m. (Free admission; trolley provided)
Meet at Blue Sky Burgers, 3216-4th St., at noon for lunch
Pot Luck at RV Park
May 14 Saturday—Arrive to tour Buddy Holly Museum, 1801 Crickets Ave., (10:00 a.m.) ($8)
(See J. J. Allison Home where Buddy Holly wrote and recorded “That’ll Be The Day”)
For lunch, we will take our picnic lunch to McKenzie Park and visit Prairie Dog Town.
Arrive at American Windmill Museum, 1701 Canyon Lake Dr., for 1:00 tour (Fee: $6)
May 15 Sunday—Breakfast at RV Park provided by hosts (8:00-9:00 a.m.)
Leave 12:30 p.m. for Silent Wings Museum, in Lubbock Regional Airport, 5401 N. MLK Blvd., for 1:00 p.m. tour (Fee $5:00 for guided 45 min. tour)
2:30 Meet at Llano Estacado Winery, 3426 FM 1585, for tour and tasting, if you wish.
May 16 Monday—Leave at 8:30 a.m. for Cast Iron Restaurant, 620-19th St. (Corner of Interstate 27 and 19th) for breakfast (Dutch treat) at 8:45 a.m. After breakfast, follow in caravan to Tornado Memorial, corner of Glenna Goodacre and Ave. Q; then tour Texas Tech Campus (at University and 19th St.) (See United Spirit Arena, Womble Center, Memorial Circle and Jones Stadium, plus others). Also try to spot a Mural displayed on University Street that depicts a current professional quarterback. When you see it, take a photo and bring it to one of the hosts for a prize!
Leave park at 5:30 for 6:00 Dinner at Abuelo’s, 4401-82nd St.
May 17 Tuesday—Adios Amigos! See you in Chama!
