NY Rally, Part 2

The day started with a most gracious invitation from Ron and Diane Garner to have a buffet breakfast at their house. So we piled in our cars/trucks (car pooled, of course) and drove to their beautiful house in Longview. There they had a tasty spread of food and drinks all laid out for us to enjoy. After that we socialized and admired Ron and Diane’s house… and Ron’s antique cars.

The afternoon was personal time. Each of us was able to shop, read, take a nap, play cards or whatever.

In the evening we had a grilled steak dinner. The park has a large grill that we could use, and we all brought our own meat. TS members also brought an excellent assortment of side dishes and dessert. Enough to say none of us left hungry. After dinner we had our gift exchange. There were some very nice gifts too, enough to spark some enthusiastic “gift stealing”. A fine end to good day.

NY Rally, Part 1

The first day of our 2019/2020 NY Rally saw rigs coming from near and far. TS members gathered and told tall tales and in general shot the breeze and got reacquainted. James Hoover started off the meeting at the happy hour with greetings and announcements.

Dinner was served, a most excellent Texas dinner of pulled pork, baked beans, and potato salad , followed by cherry and peach cobbler. We all helped ourselves and thanked Hessie Smith for her most excellent dinner preparation. We campers do know how to eat!

This was followed by a spirited game of bingo, where winners scored big White Elephant prizes. In fact, one of the prizes was a white elephant. And roosters, earbuds, cutting boards, candle sticks, much much more. It quickly came to 8:30 when most people our age go to bed and the evening drew to a close. More to come…
