A few of you have expressed an interest in going back to Quartzsite so we’re going to do a tag along again in 2020. The show dates are Jan. 18th through the 26th, 2020. I called two parks in Brenda, about 12 miles from the big show in Quartzsite. Black Rock was the first and only one to return my call so we will stay there again. It is a full hook up park and offers a shuttle to the show several times daily. They have agreed to hold 8 sites but only until the end of May due to the popularity of this event so call them at 928-927-4206. Be sure to tell them that you are with the Traveling Supremes. Be sure to read the cancellation policy closely. This will be a tag along so no real agenda just fun and fellowship!
A while back the Cooks and the Phillips each bought a Cricket. No, not the hopping kind, but the battery powered wheeled kind. It comes in real handy when trying to get around in these ever growing larger RV parks. So, as a public service, here is a link to the Cricket web site:
Well we just finished our West Memphis gathering hosted by Ted and Susan Kercher. They did a great job and we all had a great time despite the rainy weather. Love that Memphis BBQ! If you missed this one there are plenty more opportunities to join in the fun.
In June we have a tag a long to Trader Village in Houston. Check in May 31 and check out June 3rd. Call Tori Brooks at 281-890-5500. More info Here
Then in July we have a gathering in Buena Vista Colorado hosted by the Butauds and the Hoovers. Check in July 21st and check out July 28th. The blocked off sites at Mt. Princeton RV were released in March but you still may be able to get in by calling Cindy at 719-395-6206. Join us and escape the summer heat in the mountains of Colorado! More info Here
From there we go to Chama NM. The Gathering dates are August 18th to the 25th but as most of you know many members come and go at various times. Another great way to escape the heat in the mountains. Sky Mountain RV doesn’t open until May 15th ( it snowed in Chama yesterday) but call 575-766-1100 or go online to start making your reservation but do it soon as this park is very popular! More info Here
Then we will have the annual business meeting in Ruston LA at Lincoln Parish park 318-251-5156. Check in Sept 21st and check out Sept 27th. More info Here
That rounds out our current schedule for 2019 but I’m always open to ideas. We are also in search of a host for the next new year’s rally. I am also considering another tag a long to Quartzsite next January so let me know if you might be interested.
Wednesday was a free day in Memphis. Some went to Bass Pro Shop, sightseeing around Memphis, several visited Tom Sawyer’s to see how the campground was recovering from the flood, and some just chilled.
Wednesday night we had Shake Shack deliver great dinners to us at the cafe. Polk and Linda had arrived in the afternoon and our guests were delighted to meet them, especially Patti who wanted to hear about the Duck Dynasty family!
Thursday was another day to explore on your on. I think Jim and Tina and Pete and Mary toured from Arkansas, through Memphis down into Mississippi and visited Horn Lake. Ted and I went with Les and Ida to the casino for lunch, gambling and dog racing! I was pretty lucky in the casino and we had a good time rooting for certain dogs to win!
On Friday we all went to Charlie Vergos Rendezvous in a basement in an ally! This is the number one barbecue restaurant in Memphis started in 1948. We had a great waiter and the staff was really accommodating! I was a little nervous when I saw about 150 elementary kids going in but they fed them in the big room upstairs and we had a nice quiet meal!
After lunch we traveled over to the Mississippi River for a ride on the Island Queen. We had a fun tour guide who pointed out things of interest and gave us lots of facts. The Tom Lee Park is a very interesting story about a very brave man who saved a lot of lives on the river.
Friday evening we all met back at the cafe to eat again lol! New members Michael and Patti Hutton grilled some delicious chicken for us we added some sides and had another great meal. Linda talked to the group about the plans for the General Business Meeting in Louisiana. This caused a round of stories, memories and laughter sharing Traveling Supreme tales!
Our week had come to an end and Ted and I were grateful for all the help and support we received during the gathering. Saturday morning most of us took off for other adventures!

The Traveling Supreme Gathering started off on Monday with a potluck dinner at the KOA. We have six rigs here with the Brian’s coming on Wednesday afternoon. There are four couples that are current members, Ted and Susan Kercher, Jim and Tina Hoover, Les and Ida Cook and Jerry and Hessie Smith. We also have two guest couples: Michael, Pattie Hutton (and mother Monell) and Pete and Mary Minnix.
On Tuesday we did a Memphis City Tour. We visited Sun Studios, watched the duck walk at the Peabody Hotel, drove by houses on Million Dollar Row, visited the St. Jude Hospital Danny Thomas started, went to the largest Bass Pro Shop, stopped at the National Civil Rights Museum, had lunch at Blues City Cafe on Beale Street, and drove by Graceland before they brought us back to the campground. It was a full and fun day!
