2017/18 New Years

December 29, 2017(arrival) – January 3, 2018 (departure)

Coleto Creek KOA
500 Coleto Park Road
Victoria, TX

Join us for New Year’s festivities at the Coleto Creek KOA. The campground is located between Victoria, TX and Goliad, TX near the Coleto Creek Reservoir. The area has a multitude of historical and interesting things to explore.

One day we’ll travel to Goliad and tour the Presidio Nuestra Senora de Loretta de la Bahia. Built in 1749 it was a principal military post. The grounds feature reconstructed Officers’ Quarters, offices, storehouses, workshops and a Church. Also in Goliad for us to tour is the Mission Espiritu Santo which is a reconstructed 1800’s Mission and grounds.

Another day will feature a trip to Berclair, TX where we’ll tour the Berclair Mansion. Built in 1936 the mansion has 22 rooms and 10,000 sq.ft. It has all of the original furnishings with antiques dating back to the 1600’s.

Our final day trip will be to Victoria, TX for a guided tour of the Museum of the Coastal Bend. The museum focus is on LaSalle’s exploration of the area, Native American Indians who lived in the area during the time of LaSalle’s exploration and shipwrecks that have occurred along the Texas coast.

The KOA has been very accommodating for our club. They will give a 15% discount with a KOA card plus they will not charge us their normally higher holiday rates. On New Year’s Eve, the KOA has a camp-wide pot luck in which we will participate. (A sign-up list will be in the office when you check in). There is an on-site cafe and there will be a camp-wide New Year’s Day special dinner along with football watching. If we have 10 or more rigs in attendance, there will be no charge for the meeting room. We will have exclusive use of the meeting room except on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day when we’ll share with other campers. Who knows — we might recruit some new members! Call and make your reservations and tell them you are part of the Traveling Supremes.

Hosts: David/Deanne Phillips, Jerry/Hessie Smith and Bill/Martha Bobo.
